The Devil’s Trade, the solo project of Hungarian singer-songwriter Makó Dávid, has carved out a striking international career—one of the few Hungarian acts with over ten European tours under its belt. The project has graced major stages like Roadburn, Brutal Assault, Hellfest, and Desert Fest,
sharing bills with post-metal heavyweights such as Alcest, Amenra, and Der Weg Einer Freiheit.

The band’s fifth studio album, Nincs Szennyezetlen Szép (“There Is No Uncontaminatd Beauty”), dropped in November 2025 via Germany’s prestigious Pelagic Records (home to The Ocean, Mono, Bruit≤, God Is An Astronaut, and Whores.).

Makó’s acoustic, alternative folk roots have unfolded and deepened across albums, inching closer to post-metal territory. The 2023 release Vidékek Vannak Idebenn marked a pivotal shift with full band arrangements, crafted alongside longtime collaborator Binder Gáspár (Cudi Purci Booking, Corbata Production, Choke City, Prosectura, Stereochrist, HAW, Torn From Earth, Dog Attack). Nincs Szennyezetlen Szép takes this journey further, emerging as the project’s darkest, most complex, and intense work yet—born from two weeks bookended by a death and a birth. It weaves an unresolvable tapestry of grief, gratitude, curse, and blessing.

Recorded in Makó’s own Templom studio, the album features engineering by Szűcs Szabolcs (Superbutt), production from Szabó Márton (The Devil’s Trade, Igor), and mastering by Nikita Kampard (Der Weg Einer Freiheit).

“The album’s guiding motif is weight,” Dávid explains. “It can bury you like a tomb, but once you set it down, it lets you nearly lift off the earth. The record itself is about carrying that weight—and finally laying it down.“
